A Vow
I read a quote from Maxine Hong Kingston that says: In a time of destruction, create something. A poem. A parade. A community. A school. A vow. A moral principle. One peaceful moment.
Our hope is found in creating something good, even in a time of destruction.
A Vow
In a time of destruction
I vow to create
I promise to point
To all things beautiful
All things bright
All things lovely
But also
I vow to witness
To the atrocity
To not be quiet
In the face of tragedy
In the heat of the fire
Beneath the sound of falling bombs
To stand with More Than Humans
And to stand with humanity
To keep my own
My heart is with the provinces that are struggling under wildfires and the people who are surviving the maleficence of those who would like them gone. A natural, but manmade disaster and a manmade, manmade disaster.
